Some of you have shared that you are just not up to or motivated to make art these days . Summer and all it’s glory and distractions are a wonderful reason to stay away from your art practise.. Yet! ..
If you have an hour to spend on just yourself then why not give this a try?
If you are at all like me you will feel something’s missing..When your artmaking stops. If I don’t make art I feel a bit agitated, on edge, l lack zest, can be distractible, even a bit sad .
Sometimes figuring out a plan , thinking about a project can be the most offsetting part. I do talk myself out of making art precisely when I need to make art. It’s such a beautiful valve. For me complimented with a walk in nature , a new experience, a brilliant conversation with a kindred spirit - art making can be spirit lifting !
This project below is for everyone who is stuck..or not ;-)
The materials are simple . Your concertina book can be composed of only your beautiful discards! here is the link to the video:
This is a short demo to demonstrate how you can make a quick and simple work of art from your art discards (and perceived fails!) in this project I used longer sheets of 140 lb watercolor(card stock or any heavier paper will do) and cut up parts of drawings, sketches ..sketchbook pages that were no longer my favourites. Utilizing the bits that still looked lovely to me-in texture ,shape ,colour etc.. This is a project where you can work quickly-once you have cut up and measured your concertina pages.. I recommend you work smallish. I also worked on both sides of my book to give it some weight -and it shows nicely when you have the choice of either side to view! You may also use any of the scraps of paper or images, drawings you keep and don't have the heart yet to discard ! By the way I mention PVC glue (geesh!)in the video =It should be PVA :-) supplies needed: a few drawings, sketches or paintings on paper you no longer lover scissors ruler/pencil heavy paper matte medium (for thinner paper) - works as glue that's it! and your wonderful imaginative brain! Enjoy !
I would love to post a few of your creations for the world to see and you may email me with an attachment and I will include in one of my next posts ! maudstarr@gmail.com
