Hello to all of you Jetpack artists !

How is the “Small is beautiful” project coming along? The deadline is June 8th so you still have some time to conjure up something lovely!

It’s been a busy last month for me , with a trip abroad (and jet lag recovery ha!), a commission to complete and time spent preparing the outdoors for Spring (hopefully happening soon-Spring that is! )

I am trying new things with gelli plate and enjoying the unpredictability of this medium . I had hoped to participate in tetra plate small print challenge this week but I’ll see how it unravels today!*

While thinking about working small I came across these two opportunities for artists ! Earlier in my art career I participated in mail art and postcard exchange projects ..Fun and satisfying and reminiscent of a merging of pen pals and the freedom of play in art. If you have the time and inclination it might be fun to dip into one or both of these projects..

As I worked on index cards for my small project I thought you might like to try this one . I like the concept of using a cheap and cheerful substrate. Sometimes we need a little jumpstart to create! Art creation doesn’t require an abundance of costly supplies. This project might also be of interest:

*I worked on the tetra pak mini print challenge(another not so small thing!) this week after all and the medium is a challenging yet stimulating one! I had purchases a used pasta machine to use as my press-and it has taken many attempts to arrive at an end print I feel happy with ..

I decided that since Gaza has been on my mind even more than ever these days that I would try to match my art to the prompts :

I had the pleasure of speaking with and learning from mixed media collage artist Roanne Thomas about her process, her art business , and practise. I’m sure you will find it interesting and informative (even with the small glitches on my part haha)!

Just a reminder The Jetpack club will be meeting via zoom this Sunday June 1 2-4 pm EST and share what we have been up to creatively as well as any in process projects you wish to offer a sneak peek of with the group. We appreciate your presence and however you are able to participate. I will try to vary the times we meet as to accommodate our members around the globe ..
