Welcome to Artist Jetpack ! I have been thinking about ways we can create community and solidarity online for the Ageless Artist who is working continuously to grow and make art .

We are situated worldwide and our commonality is our love and creation of art. My intention always has been to encourage the artist of my vintage-a little younger or older perhaps - to share their stories and challenges as an artist in this place in time. How we navigate these times as an artist is personal -but often requires a shift and perhaps exposure to new opportunities . Lifelong growth is possible and imminent. I will share my stories and welcome yours!

Creating an Ageless Artist community

When I started this newsletter in 2023 my intention was to create community here on substack for Ageless artists such as yourself. I began with the notion of creating group discussion and information sharing using this newsletter as a jumping off point . I am incredibly grateful for you being here -and for supporting this little newsletter that’s grown despite a slight departure from my original goals . I needed the time to understand the platform and to get my head around what might be of interest and relevant to you,my readers. Typically I dive in too quickly( eeek) with a concept that invigorates me -and this project just needed to sit for a while and simmer until the timing was right. I also had to determine if this was the place to foster and encourage online art club. With early surveys I discovered there were several of you who were interested in growing your art, marketing and the business of art. There were equally those of you who felt that a nudge was required to either enter into or revisit your artist side. Art demos and talk about specific issues and celebrations of life as an (ageless) artist were also indicated as popular themes .

Thinking about how to accommodate all of your needs was a slightly daunting proposition!

Hosting artist interviews has been an absolute pleasure and definitely dovetailed with my hope of sharing of experience and expertise from artists world wide with you . If you haven’t already -please take look at earlier interview posts on this site ! I feel ready now to take this a step further with full knowledge that this may not apply to all of you -but that I am convinced there are some of you who would find a more fulfilling connection if we carved a special place for you here. I am not concerned with numbers -rather opportunities to meet and connect with other mature artists who may share similar dreams , goals and ideas. I maintain that the life experience we have gained has only added to the richness of our practise!

It will be flexible and open to many pivots along the way!

So in order to keep the Jet Pack Club a workable size and to reflect some of the time the work involves I am introducing paid subscriptions for those of you who are hoping for a richer, interactive experience.

I am envisioning that this will offer you :

• one social /art chat with myself and the group once monthly ..

• One live making art together session monthly

• and access to extra bonus artist interviews

• art trades and (when my Canadian postal service is up and running again ) I will be mailing out small original art to each one of you just to say thanks !

• live mini workshops on youtube

If this concept/community piques your interest then when you subscribe you will be gifted one week free to check out the experience plus if you decide to stay on with us (yea!)-20% off a yearly subscription. (I have kept costs as low as possible -(5 dollars a month or 40 dollars yearly) yet I encourage you to contact me if this fee is a barrier for you and I will happily accommodate )

I will be offering an initial getting to know you video session December 11th 2pm EST (you may have to check your own location for matching time in your zone) for subscribers to The Jet Pack Artists Club only.

I invite you to join me over a cup of coffee tea or wine or for this relaxed introductory meetup . This will be a short time together in order to allow everyone who attends a little time to get acquainted. Please feel free to bring a sample of you art or creative project with you to share with others -if comfortable! I will be posting again to offer you a link to the meeting :-)

There will be future sessions if you are not able to make this date and time work for you -and please let me know if there is a better time with your lifestyle or location we could schedule to enable you to join in!

If you are currently content to remain a free subscriber then no worries..this will not change ! I will post a little less often but a free newsletter will continue to arrive in your mailbox on occasion! (If you are also subscribed to Ageless artist it will continue to be delivered free once monthly..)

Finally..If you are a maker , or creative person of any kind then please consider yourself welcome to join ! Although the leaning of this community will be in supporting artists fifty years and up please be comfortable joining us whatever your chronological age may be !
