I am creating and marketing my art less these days . I have pulled back from social media and the hustle of the last 20 years . I am taking this precious time to figure out my next steps on the road. It feels lovely now -as the reflection time has been important to me . I will definitely not stop making art . I’m paying attention to what offers the most joy .

Play in my sketchbook often leads to larger projects and paintings : it also serves to keep my making fresh.. and satisfy that itch of creating ‘something
Personally -I have learned more about what I enjoy making from taking the time to experiment without concern of an end product. The concepts do not manifest themselves as readily as in the past -but I enjoy the process of getting there more.
I also find pleasure in the remaking of art that no longer serves me. If it is sitting on my shelf for too long I need to find a way to love it .
The first version..
The second version..although I love a pop of red paint I am more content with the newest version below.
I also discovered a color palette I enjoyed after playing with graphite paint and overlapping colours in my sketches :
I believe the layering of papers and colours has improved this painting -and I can make peace with its final iteration
I started this painting using only monochrome and graphite paints
I decided that I prefer a little more colour (gouache paint )..as it still holds on to the moody quality -but I feel that it elevates the painting
There are so many ways you can recycle or revise art that you are no longer pleased with !
I would love to hear how you reuse and revive your unloved/ discarded art !
If you missed it -here is an older post where I explore making art out of your art discards..
An art project for you
Some of you have shared that you are just not up to or motivated to make art these days . Summer and all it’s glory and distractions are a wonderful reason to stay away from your art practise.. Yet! ..
Art Shop update
Something else I have decided (after much deliberation ) is to offer free shipping to North American patrons who purchase art from my shop. I’m willing to take the cut and not rise my prices in order to make it simpler for you to buy my art . . I would like my art prices to be reasonable and accessible all of the time. If you sell your art online please let me know how you feel about “free shipping “ option . Will you or do you offer it?

You can discover my art at heathermurray.net
Thanks for being here
Heather
Local shipping costs can be absorbed but international is prohibitive. Currency exchange rates have to be considered as well if you are buying a class or artwork.
This resonates with me, because I enjoy the process and feel no need to rush to an end to produce a product…Thanks for a great read!
