Local shipping costs can be absorbed but international is prohibitive. Currency exchange rates have to be considered as well if you are buying a class or artwork.
Also, I do sometimes offer free shipping if I want to move out long standing inventory,
Etsy would love for me to offer free shipping ALL the time or offer it at a nominal fee. I think for the month of November I will offer free shipping, maybe it will encourage more sales, we shall see. My shop has been neglected so I have a deadline of Nov 5th for a major update.
Hi Nora..This is yet another experiment for me to offer free shipping -so I'll see where it leads! Like yourself I felt pressured by Etsy to offer shipping free -and i did offer for a time -but found it too costly to keep my prices down and pay high shipping costs (Canada Post Grrr) Now that it is entirely my decision I feel inclined to offer again - time will tell!
Morning Heather, my first read of Monday morning with a quiet coffee before the chaos of the day begins. I found your "colour redos" of your pieces quite illuminating and often brought more moodiness to your work ie/ the turtle. But I love colour so I'm biased I suppose! Since I work with fabric, I will often rip out seams and reuse my pieces in new works, or take my block print samples which I had wanted to use for one project and then piece them into something completely new. I did a series of circular cotton rope wall hangings with simple tree motifs in the beginning, but once I hung them up for a few weeks I decided that they just were not working - too little design going on, too monochrome. So I added more embroidered felt/silk pieces, added more hand stitching and am pleased with the results. They are more vibrant, a better expression of what I was trying to say about "nature" in the beginning.
Hi Nora and Thank you for your response to my "redos". I would love to see photos of your fabric/fibre works -they sound quite wonderful! Transformations are quite rewarding aren't they? I wish Substack would find a way to permit photos in comments -but this inspires me to invite folks to post their before and after photos in a chat thread I'll start! (I think the chat only works with Substack app however.. )

This resonates with me, because I enjoy the process and feel no need to rush to an end to produce a product…Thanks for a great read!
Thank you for your kind comment Indigene and I appreciate your artist perspective always
